ANTLER TRANSLATION SERVICES, INC.
Sra. María Teresa Vargas translated for this company the first edition of the UNIFEM biennial report “Progress of the World’s Women 2000,” now published as “El progreso de las mujeres en el mundo 2000.”
As this was a publication for the United Nations, it demanded not only an outstanding level of Spanish style but also highly detailed research into the exact wording of quotations, the precise names of international organizations, and so on.
Additionally, as a work of 100,000+ words, it required very careful attention to consistency, and - as always in our profession - the demands of the publication deadline required a rapid rate of progress.
In all of these challenging areas, Sra. Vargas measured up to the demands placed on her. Her translation was lucidly written, painstakingly researched, and delivered on time.
We look forward to working with Sra. Vargas again, when another such demanding assignment has to be translated.

To Whom It May Concern:
Re: Recommendation for María T. Vargas
I am writing on behalf of María Teresa Vargas, one of our steady translators for Spanish. Ms. Vargas has been working for our agency, One World Language Services®, in New York for over a year. Her specialties are longer texts in the area of social concerns, women's issues and domestic violence. Earlier this year, she translated a booklet entitled "Finding Safety and Support" by the New York State Coalition against Domestic Violence of 60 pages and was again involved in updating and refining a second book for the same office, entitled "Domestic Violence Handbook." (77 pages) >> |
>> Our clients generally hold Ms. Vargas' work in high esteem. She has shown herself particularly responsive to the linguistic needs of clients involved in social work in the US who need to face the difficult charge of adapting Spanish publications to the Spanish spoken now in the US by different population groups.
I highly recommend Ms. Vargas as a translator of English into Spanish.
Sincerely,
Dorothee Racette
